Q: How do I place my order?
A: You may either place your order at my gallery, or through email.
If you are using the latter to place order, please state the categories you want, the date you need it.
I will give you the total price before you make payment.
Q: Do you do 'live'
portraits and caricatures in your gallery? A: Yes, however, you need to make a booking with the artist at least 2 weeks in advance.
50% downpayment of the drawing price is required as confirmation of booking.
Q: How do I make payment? A: For local Singapore orders, you may make payment through
Automated-Transaction-Machine (ATM) fund transfer (DBS/POSB), or through internet banking.
Alternatively, you can make payment at the gallery.
You can also pay by cheque, make payable to 'Portrait Workshop'.
For oversea orders, you can pay through Paypal here.
Q: What kind of photographs do you need? A: Sharp, clear, good lighting, and smiling photos are prefered. Usually, a serious, non-smiling,
expressionless photos are not recommended for caricatures.
Please send in a few photos of the person you need to be drawn.
Q: If I am sending in digital photos, what's the resolution you need? A: As long as you zoom in, looking at the face at about 10cm x 10cm, the features don't look pixelised,
it is considered as good quality photo.
If you are going to scan your hardcopy, please scan at 100% size, 300dpi.
If the size of the face is less than 1.5cm in width, please scan at 200% of the original size.
Q: I have problem sending large-size digital photos. What should I do? A: You can crop the photos. I just need the face for caricatures. I don't need background and full body,
unless there are specific stuff you need me to take note of.
You may also split the photos to be sent out in a few emails.
Q: How soon will I get my portraits, caricatures or illustrations? A: Usually, it takes about 2 - 4 weeks to get it done, depending on our workload.
If you need it in less than 2 weeks, there will be a surcharge of 30% - 100% for express service.
Q: What if I am not satisfied with the outcome of the drawings? A: A good communication with the artist, before work commences is vital.
For instance, if you don't want a mole on the face, please let us know in the first place.
We can make amendments to the existing drawings.
However, depending on the medium we use, there's a limitation on what can be changed to the drawing.
For instance, if you need to add in some items, or more lines etc to the caricature in ink / colour marker,
we can do that for you. However, if you need to take some lines out, we can't erase without traces of lines.
Q: Can I view the sketch before the inking and colouring start? A: You may view the sketch at the gallery, at no charge.
Alternatively, if you need the sketch to be emailed to you for preview, there's a charge of SGD$20 for each round,
as we need to snap the sketch into softcopy, touch-up and email. This need time and effort to do it.
As this will slow down everything ( your collection date will be delayed), please allow at least a few more days for the turnaround time.
Q: Do you have a package whereby I can see from the sketch, colour schemes, inking to the final artwork, all through emails? A: Yes. Currently we only do this for Caricature wth theme in colour marker.
The price is SGD$350 for 1 person, A3 size; SGD$700 for A2 size.
In this package, you tell us your requirements, such as the theme (golf, soccer etc), the background etc.
We will show you the pencil sketches of the overall layout of the caricature.
Upon approving the sketch from you, we will proceed with the colour schemes.
At this stage, you will have a clearer idea of how is the whole artwork will appear in colour.
Next we will sketch out the caricature in pencil with details on the features, ink in and email to you.
The final stage is the colouring part. When you are satisfied with everything, your artwork will be ready for collection.
So, no shock or unpleasant surprise when you get your order.
